FRIDAY
A Championship Re-Match
For the first time since Rose BC took down Vinyl BC in the 2025 Unrivaled Championship, the two meet again with a banner hanging and momentum on Rose’s side. The defending champions opened Season 2 behind a masterclass from Chelsea Gray, who poured in 35 points, tied her career high with eight assists, and added yet another game-winner to extend her lead atop the Unrivaled all-time list. Vinyl, now 0-1, looks to respond with a veteran-heavy roster. Meanwhile, Rose’s Azurá Stevens faces familiar Sparks teammates Dearica Hamby and Rae Burrell on the other side.
New Clubs Face-Off
The top two picks from the 2026 Unrivaled Draft will share the floor as Paige Bueckers and Kelsey Mitchell’s clubs meet for the first team. Bueckers was electric in her Unrivaled debut, finishing with 24 points and six assists, while Mitchell looks to bounce back after a tough shooting night in her opener. This matchup also features three top-10 picks from the 2025 WNBA Draft in Bueckers, Sonia Citron, and Saniya Rivers, all coming off impressive rookie campaigns. For two expansion clubs still defining their identities, this game offers an early measuring stick built around elite young talent.
SATURDAY
Who Gets Their First Win?
Both the Lunar Owls and Phantom enter the weekend winless, but their paths to 0-1 were different. Lunar Owls, led by 2025 Coach of the Year DJ Sackmann, flashed their trademark offensive bursts behind Aaliyah Edwards and Marina Mabrey before falling late. Speaking of Mabrey, she’ll be playing against her 2025 club. In the opener, Phantom stayed within striking distance throughout, leaning on a roster built around new additions and championship experience. History adds another wrinkle, as Phantom went 0-3 against the Lunar Owls during the 2025 regular season.
A Defensive Showcase
Both Laces BC and Mist BC opened the season with convincing, double-digit wins, and each flashed elite defensive identity. The Laces made Unrivaled history by holding an opponent scoreless in the fourth quarter for the first time ever, limiting Vinyl to the lowest scoring output in league history.
Mist counter with rim protection and size, led by Alanna Smith, who tied the Unrivaled single-game blocks record with five in her debut. The Mist enter the matchup looking to even the all-time series (1-2) after falling twice to the Laces during the 2025 regular season.
SUNDAY
Championship Pedigree Meets Youthful Confidence
Rose BC closes the weekend against a Breeze team that already proved it can execute late. The backcourt matchup headlines this one, as Chelsea Gray, fresh off a league-leading 35-point performance, goes head-to-head with Paige Bueckers, who finished just behind her in Opening Day scoring. It’s an early test of pace and poise: Rose’s experience and composure versus a Breeze squad eager to show it belongs among the league’s elite.
Continuity vs Change
Hive BC enters with the most newcomers on its roster, with Natisha Hiedeman as the only player returning from Season 1. Vinyl, by contrast, brings back five players from last season, adding just one newcomer in Erica Wheeler. Both clubs are looking to close Opening Week on a high note, making this final matchup a telling snapshot of how roster construction and chemistry begin to take shape early in Season 2. Plus, it’s a match up of the Stud Budz, everyone’s favorite streaming duo.
Hiedeman and Courtney Williams, who play together on the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx will face off in this matchup. And they’re not the only WNBA teammates who will be on opposing clubs as Ezi Magbegor and Erica Wheeler will also be in opposing colors.
We’ll be back Monday to preview the final two games this week!
